The SAT Announcement No. 23 clarifies different matters related to tax collection and administration, such as: the VAT filling period, the registration of normal VAT taxpayer status, the use of invoices, the issuance of VAT invoices, the cancellation of VAT invoice verification requirement for some taxpayers and others.

New SAFE Policy to Reform and Regulate the Control over Foreign Exchange Settlement of Capital Account

Double Taxation Relief between Hong Kong and mainland China

HK residents are now able to use their Certificates of Resident Status [CoRS] issued by the pertinent Hong Kong authorities in order to avoid paying taxes in both zones. China Encourages Technological Innovation through Import Easing

Administration Enhancements of Deduction of Customs Import VAT

The SAT has announced three stricter measures for the Customs Import VAT that corporations must abide by. These measures include correct corporate name on all certificates and new timing specifications for reporting imported goods. There will also be enhanced regulation of tax payment certification information with taxpayer’s actual import business information.
